To maneuver and support the spine there are a large number of muscles in the back of all shapes and sizes hard at work behind the scenes daily. Your lower spine and pelvis are attached to the neck and head by long and thick muscles which run down your back. To help you keep ones back healthy and free from pain, exercise for lower back issues is very necessary.

On the other end of the spectrum there are countless muscles, most of which are a couple of centimetres long connecting segments of vertebrae close to one another. Every time you breathe another pair of delicate spinal muscles connecting your ribs with your vertebrae come into play.

The human body is actually an amazing thing and the muscles inside the back are a pinnacle of human evolution. Amazingly the complete muscular system within the back works synergistically and the muscles are connected whether they be small, wide, thin, short or tall.

Considering that the muscles inside your back are so important the healthiness of your back muscles carries a big part to play to keep your back healthy. These muscles tend to be more important than the bones, ligaments and discs and contribute to the entire health of the spine.

One of the most important jobs of one’s back muscles is always to act as an early warning system when you will find problems. Often, before your back “pops” parts of your muscles will spasm which tells you if you don’t take evasive action you may find yourself in much more pain.

Your spinal-cord is guarded by these numerous strong spinal muscles. For this reason the muscles within your back are the most sensitive muscles inside the spinal system. These extremely sensitive muscles immediately lock themselves into an immensely tight grip if you have any threat on the spinal-cord. This grip is, usually, far more painful than any other muscle spasms you could experience.

So you can see that keeping your back muscles healthy is very important and should you have any problems in any respect with your back you need to be exercising these muscles every day.
